A baseline configuration is the configuration that has been thoroughly tested and is known to be robust and working well in production. A baseline is typically established during a production deployment. Once a baseline has been established, it can be restored in the event of undesirable configuration changes, and used as a starting point for any new development, especially ones involving configuration changes.
