Deployment steps

Deployment is the process whereby Xoom applies configuration changes to the managed system. Irrespective of which Xoom client tool you use, deployment consists of the same steps.

  1. The specified XoomXML file is sent to Xoom server.
  2. Xoom server retrieves the matching parts of live configuration – that is, the items that are logically equivalent and possess the same Xoom identities as those in XoomXML.
  3. Xoom identifies the items that have been added or changed. Xoom ignores environment-specific data (such as keys, stamp etc.), and compares only Xoom identities, body and settings.
  4. Changes are deployed in two stages: Scheme changes are deployed first, followed by Object changes.

Settings Migration Tool gives you interactive control over the deployment stages and the items, and dependencies that are deployed.
