If installation fails, work through the following steps in turn to see if they resolve
the problem.
- Check that you have administration rights on your computer.
You must be a member of the Administrators group on your computer to install Xoom.
Right-click on the installer, select "Run as Administrator" even if you are logged in as
administrative user.
- Check that you have copied XoomStartUp.exe onto the local drive, not a network
drive.
It may be that you do not have the necessary networking rights to perform this.
- Check that the local Service Optimization server is running.
The status icon can be deceiving, so look at some settings in the
Service Optimization Administration tool to be sure.
- Inspect the Events log.
It may contain information that enables you to resolve the problem.
- If the installer still doesn't work, start a command prompt as an administrator, navigate
to the installer folder, and run the following, replacing XoomStartUp.exe with the
actual name of the installer: XoomStartUp.exe /log
install.log.
This will create a number of log files. Start a support ticket and attach these files
together with Application event log so that Zany Ants can analyse them.
The installer accepts an optional parameter
DISABLESERVICESTART which performs the installation without trying to start
Xoom service. This can make it easier to diagnise problems.
