These controls are found in the Retrieval tab and are used for retrieval and exploration of configuration. They only become available once a connection with a Xoom server has been established.
The structure of the configuration tree, as displayed in the Tree view pane, is explained. In the following diagram we compare the Tree View pane with the equivalent window from Service Optimization Administration.
Settings Migration Tool uses the Service Optimization Microsoft Managment Console setting to populate the administrative tree hierarchy, but it automatically includes some nodes and excludes others. It uses the following criteria.
When you connect to the Xoom server, Settings Migration Tool retrieves the tree structure but leaves it unpopulated with items. This is to avoid overburdening the Service Optimization server. You therefore need to retrieve the items you actually want to use. You have two options: retrieve all the items at once, using the Retrieve All button; or, retrieve items individually.
Before saving the selected items, Settings Migration Tool performs a dependency analysis. It identifies all the items that reference or are referenced by the selected items, and gives you the option of including them.
